Welcome to the USS Vesta!

"The simple hearth is the true center of our universe." - Masanobu Fukuoka

Welcome to the USS Vesta.

The year is 2393. In the past half-century, the Federation has experienced more profound changes than it has at almost any other point in its two-hundred-and-thirty year history. There have been challenges along the way. However, Federation policy makers hope to once again look outward toward scientific exploration and diplomatic cooperation, to be a stabilizing presence as the dawn of a new century draws near.

The USS Vesta, a Vesta-class vessel under the command of Captain Aviram Drell, was designed for that very purpose. Having been created with the very best that Starfleet has to offer, the Vesta has already made her mark on history. Her continuing mission: to explore, to forge new relationships, and to carry the torch, lighting the way for those who follow.

» USS Vesta Monthly Report - September 2019

Posted on Tue Oct 1st, 2019 @ 8:40pm by Captain Aviram Drell in Sim Announcement

Greetings,

It has been a busy month for many of our players. Despite this, we managed to complete eight mission posts and make the transition to our next episode, "Samaritan". We are looking forward to exploring this story more deeply as we move into October.

In addition to these activities, the command staff has been reaching out on a case-by-case basis to individuals who have expressed some interest in the sim. These conversations are ongoing.

This month's nomination for Pegasus Fleet's Post of the Month is "A Camel Walks Into The XO's Office... No, Really!" by Commander Temperance Zachary & Lieutenant Daisuke Hafan, 3rd Tribe of Bon-Hwa. You can read the post by clicking here.

Thank you all for your hard work this month!

Respectfully,

» Special Announcement - Chief of Fleet Operations

Posted on Tue Oct 1st, 2019 @ 8:36pm by Captain Aviram Drell in Fleet Announcement

Hi everyone,

I have an announcement from our Chief of Fleet Operations, Admiral Joseph Rhimer. I'll let him explain:

=====

It is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation from the position of Chief of Fleet Operations. It's a position that I enjoy very much, but at this time I don't feel that I can fill the role adequately for a number of reasons. I've enjoyed working with all of my COs here and helping you along with everything that's been going on. Seeing your sims increase in activity and push forward with new gusto has been a thrill for me, and I'm certain that that trend will continue. I'll be staying in PF, of course, so don't fear the loss of your Flailmaster Supreme. Thank you to the Admiralty for giving me to the opportunity to work with them again, and maybe one day in the future we can do so again under better circumstances. I have agreed to remain in the position until a suitable replacement can be found, so if you need anything, if I'm still green, I can still help.

Thank you!

Rear Admiral Joseph M. Rhimer, Retired
Eleventh "Pegasus" Fleet

=====

I'd like to thank Admiral Rhimer for everything that he has done for the Fleet, both during his tenure as CFOps, and out. Fortunately he will be staying with us in the Fleet and continuing in other roles, though his voice will be missed inside the Admiralty chamber.

Of course, with Admiral Rhimer's departure that means that there is an opening at the CFOps position in the PFA. That means that there is an opportunity for another of our members to join the Pegasus Fleet Admiralty. Ideal candidates are members of the fleet with experience commanding long running sims, as well as a strong passion in helping see the Fleet grow and improve. Good communication skills are a must. CFOps is one of the more time intensive positions in the Fleet, so we will be looking for someone who can dedicate a lot of time to the position.

Interested members can apply for the position using the link below. The PFA will begin reviewing applications on Monday, October 7, so interested members should try to apply before that date if they want to be among the first applications reviewed. If any of our recent applicants for TFCO and CPR are interested in applying for CFOps in addition to their previous applications, please let us know. We will be potentially holding those applications pending until we begin reviewing for CFOps, and make our final decisions all at once. If anyone has any questions about the application process, or the position, please feel free to contact myself and Admiral S'iraa at pfcommand@pegasusfleet.net. Good luck to all of our applicants.

And once again, thank you to Admiral Rhimer for your service to the Fleet!

» Monthly Update - September 2019

Posted on Sat Sep 7th, 2019 @ 1:03pm by Captain Aviram Drell in Fleet Announcement

Hello everyone!

I have a handful of updates for you this month, and most of them are in regards to staff positions. So let's get started!

First off, I'd like to welcome to the PFA Rear Admiral Niamh Devane, or as most of you probably know her, Amethyst! Amethyst brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position, as well as a detailed plan for how the Fleet can better serve our commanding officers and members through the Pegasus Fleet Academy. She has previously served the Fleet as an Academy instructor and the TF56 Commanding Officer, which she will continue to hold in the interim. Amethyst also commands the USS Astraea.

Congratulations, Admiral, and welcome to the team. We’re looking forward to working with you and seeing where your leadership takes the Academy!

On a sadder note, Fleet Captain Evelynn Haught, AKA Terris or TerBear, has announced that he is stepping down as TF37 CO. Terris has been one of our longest serving TFCOs, and since joining the Fleet back at its inception, has held a number of different staff and admiralty positions, including a time as our PFCO. His resignation now is so he can spend more time focusing on his sim, the USS Lantau, and his other simming characters. We thank you for your service as TFCO, and we wish you luck in the future with the Lantau and your other endeavors.

With Amethyst taking over the Academy and Terris stepping down as TFCO, this means that we currently have two openings for TFCO for TF56 and TF37. This means we are now looking for new candidates for TFCO. Ideal candidates are members of the fleet with experience commanding long running sims, as well as a strong interest in helping see the Fleet grow and improve. Good communication skills are a must. Interested members can apply for the position using the link below. The PFA will begin reviewing applications on Monday, September 16. So candidates should submit their applications prior to that date if they want to be among the first applications reviewed.

However, we are not done with the staff related announcements. This past month the PFA and the COs of the Fleet voted on and approved some changes to the Pegasus Fleet Constitution. Specifically the changes are in regards to the structure of the PFA. Previously the PFA was made of only five members: the PFCO, Chief of Fleet Ops, Chief of Public Relations, Director of Resources, and Academy Commandant. However, the constitution allowed for the selection of a PFXO from among the four department heads. Vice Admiral S'iraa has held this position along with CPR.

The proposal that was approved by the COs removes the requirement that the optional PFXO be selected from the four department heads, allowing the option for the position to be a stand alone position. As the Fleet continues to grow, new challenges await us, and the ability to have a separate PFXO allows us to better distribute out workload to see to the day to day operation of the Fleet. Because of this, Admiral S'iraa will be retaining his role as PFXO, but vacating the role of Chief of Public Relations. This change means that we are increasing the membership of the Pegasus Fleet Admiralty from five to six. Because of that, it means that we now have an opening at Chief of Public Relations. And because of THAT, it means that there is another opportunity for one of you to join the PFA!

We are now taking applications for Chief of Public Relations. An ideal candidate for this position is a member of the Fleet with excellent communication skills, and experienced in recruitment and advertising techniques. We are looking for someone with a dedication and passion for promoting Pegasus Fleet and helping us grow by attracting new members. The PFA will begin reviewing applications for this position on Monday, September 16 as well, so interested candidates should submit their application using the link below before that date.

This month’s meeting will be held in the #meeting channel on Discord this Sunday, September 8. It will start at 3:00 pm EDT / 8:00 pm GMT. The meeting is open to all members of Pegasus Fleet and any guests that may be interested in learning more about our community. The next meeting will be on Sunday, October 13.

As always, Live Long and Prosper
Alex

» USS Vesta Monthly Report - August 2019

Posted on Sat Aug 31st, 2019 @ 7:02pm by Captain Aviram Drell in Sim Announcement

Greetings,

We are pleased to report the Vesta is off to a solid start! In addition to bringing aboard six players (including the commanding officer), we are on track to finish our first month with at least fourteen in-character posts. Most of these are joint mission posts which folks have been using to introduce their characters to one another. Some are writing their characters as if coming aboard for the very first time while others are establishing themselves as having been part of the crew. These distinctions add to the sense of diversity that seems to be present among the characters' backgrounds, positions, and experiences.

Discussion has already begun around our upcoming mission, Episode 02: "Samaritan". We are looking forward to stretching our legs and tackling the challenges our characters will no doubt face. The mission will involve a daring rescue, diplomatic tact, and the ability to navigate an incredibly tense first contact situation. Extra care is being taken to make sure we are creating opportunities for everyone to participate, especially our folks who aren't playing as department heads. Our goal will be to open the mission following the Labor Day holiday.

Finally, we are working on putting out another round of recruitment advertising. There are still some departments (e.g. Medical, Science, and Engineering) where we could really benefit from having a few more active players. If successful, it could go a long way toward helping continue to round things out moving forward.

This month's nomination for Pegasus Fleet's Post of the Month is "Old Friends" by Lieutenant Vasily Andropov II. You can read the post by clicking here.

Thank you all for your hard work getting us off the ground. We look forward to the journey ahead!

Respectfully,

Captain Aviram Drell
